February is always a great time of year around South Beach, and this year is no exception. This month, we’ve got boating festivals, art, music and LGBT pride. Also, don’t forget Chinese New Year!
Miami International Map Fair
Feeling a bit lost? Check out the Miami International Map Fair, which runs from February 2-4. Gawk at stunning historic maps and globes, or have a look at the various antiques on display. Get all the details here.
With Art Basel just behind us, Miami art lovers are really being spoiled lately. From February 15-19, Art Wynwood will celebrate local contemporary art. This year there’s a big focus on street-art inspired work, though there’s always something for everyone at Art Wynwood. Now in its sixth year, this local exhibition is well worth your time if you’re looking for something distinctly Miami-esque. More details here.
GroundUP Music Festival
If you’re sick of old maps and art, get the adrenaline pumping at GroundUP. This year’s festival runs from February 9-11, and will feature the likes of Bela Fleck, Snarky Puppy and The Wood Brothers. Get all the details here.
Celebrate all things Latino from February 10 to March 31 at Carnival Miami. This festival is actually a collection of related events, all celebrating Latino culture across Miami. Get the full details here.
The Coconut Grove Arts Festival
Did I mention art fans should be excited? Yes, just two days after Art Wynwood kicks off, Miami will be treated to the epic Coconut Grove Arts Festival. The festival takes place from February 17-19. Expect some seriously crazy art, plus music and live entertainment. With entry prices as low as $15 for adults, this one is unmissable. More information can be found here.
Miami International Boat Show
Arguably Miami’s biggest event this month, the International Boat Show shouldn’t be missed by anyone with even a passing interest in boating. This five day event is more than just a marine trade fair; it’s a celebration of Florida’s love affair with the ocean. Plus, you can test drive pretty much whatever boat you want. The event will run from February 15-19. More information can be found here.
Miami Yacht Show
Also running from February 15-19, the Miami Yacht Show focuses primarily on (you guessed it) yachts. It’s a great addition to the February calendar, especially for anyone who just can’t get enough of boats, boats and more boats. Seriously though, this show is worth a peek just to see some of the decadent yachts on display. Get all the details here.
Chinese New Year
Celebrate the Year of the Dog on February 16 with a flourish of cultural events across Miami. Expect traditional dance, art, acrobats, calligraphy and more. Plus, don’t miss the highlight of the festivities, the dragon parade. Find out more about this year’s celebrations here.
Gay8 is back for a second year. After making its proud premier in 2017, Gay8 is expected to be one of Miami’s most exciting celebrations of the LGBT community. Better still, entry is free! Find out more here.
